Congratulations Class of 2015

June 1, 2015

custom graduate illustration by tracy hetzel

This lovely young lady is the daughter of a friend who asked me to capture all she represents and all that she will be as she heads to her future at High Point University. (hey, that rhymed)

While painting this portrait I couldn’t help but reflect on my own graduation and where my 17 yr-old-self thought she’d be. Of course my future didn’t turn out how I planned. I’ve had some hard times and some good times, struggled for money and bought a house, seen things I never imagined and been to wondrous places. I’ve been sick and I’ve had healthy times. I’ve seen baby’s born and buried friends. I’ve also seen some dreams come true and hope that a few more are around the corner.  Everyday since graduation has made me who I am. And… I wouldn’t change a thing.

Good luck Kim and class of 2015, hope all your dreams come true.

This is my daughter’s friend. She asked me a while back to do a drawing of her. Well, we always say… you can’t get without asking. This one’s for you Sydney. Hope you like it.

Ladies Who Lunch

ladies who lunch watercolor illustration by tracy hetzel

What a pleasure to illustrate these lovely ladies. Ruth, on the right in red, hired me to surprise her friends with a lively illustration of them on their way to lunch. So much fun what a great bunch of gals! Next time I’m in Virginia, lunch is on me.
